I assume;
Thiner,
lighter,
uniform,
easier to inspect,
easier to attach / swap.
Sensors in each tile conceivably?
Has to be super fast to check and turn around, but reliable enough for human flight.
Have we even had confirmation of what they are made from?

That’s about right, except no sensors. Tile itself is the sensor as it will partially ablate where too hot & have to be replaced.
