Semi off topic but started me thinking... could the UI differentiate police/emergency vehicles from other vehicles on the road. Is that possible to achieve?

We’re adding police car, fire truck & ambulance to the Tesla neural net in coming months

Idea @elonmusk for Autopilot: if the AP can detect whether or not if a driver is conscious then pull over and use hazard lights, send a signal to police or EMTs. Also make AP able to detect if police are trying to pull you over.
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Dec 3, 2018
Exactly. Default Autopilot behavior, if there’s no driver input, is to slow gradually to a stop & turn on hazard lights. Tesla service then contacts the owner. Looking into what happened here.

A feature I'd LOVE in addition to be able to schedule a charging session start time, is to be able to instead schedule a charge session END time (for exactly this reason).
Also handy when needing a 100% charge leaving on road trip, but not wanting car to sit with full SOC.

Pre-heating battery before leaving the house will help - you don't lose range to warming the battery & you have regen avail (not avail when battery cold) which also adds miles back. I also lower the cabin temp slightly but putting seat heater on high.

Applying a hydrophobic coating to the radar (located just below nose of car) should help. Easy to do yourself or Tesla service can do it. We’re also working on vision-only driving.

As the battery warms up, almost all of that is recovered. There is a roughly 10% range loss for cabin heating. Cabin heating impact on range is higher in slow traffic, but range is also higher in slow traffic.

Perhaps most telling is that Norway, which is partly above the Arctic Circle, has more Teslas per capita than any other country on Earth.

@elonmusk so what’s the story I hear about the 45% batterie power loss in cold weather conditions? Has to be true since most all batteries loose their some power in Canadian cold weather situation.

Do the scorch marks heavily wear thin the rocket body materials over a few uses? (Please excuse my lack of rocket engineering terminology) 🚀

At some point does the soot actually become problematic? Like will it warm the rocket up more on the pad? Will it get too dirty and need a fresh coat of paint or a full wash down every so often? @elonmusk
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Dec 1, 2018
Reentry scorchmarks, not simple soot. Can’t wipe it off.

Prof Dahn is correct (he’s great), but the relative benefit is small. I’d recommend 10% more SoC for convenience.
