SpaceX completed a spin prime test already this morning with the Super Heavy booster. Now they're chilling engines again for what may be a static fire test of as many as seven Raptor rocket engines.

Larry Summers seems to be leading the Biden administration astray with his conviction that inflation is intractable, with the ‘70s as his guide. The ‘70s inflation started in 1964 with the Vietnam War and the Great Society and burgeoned for 15 years.

Not many understand the full capabilities SpaceX's Starship possesses. The Starship fleet is designed to achieve over 1000 times more payload to orbit than all other rockets on Earth combined. Starship's payload capacity will be insane. And that blows my mind

Starship will be an incredible enabler for science. Full reusability & high production rate drive several orders of magnitude improvement in $/kg to orbit & beyond. Next gen Starlink constellation is primary user of this rocket, so science doesn’t need to cover fixed cost.

Boston-NYC could be a 1 hour, smooth, frequent train ride from downtown to downtown. People would routinely go to lunch in each other's cities, do some business, and be back home by dinner. The economic value unleashed would be staggering.

Decisions on investment and policy are made under the assumption of continuous economic expansion. Thomas W. Murphy Jr writes in @NaturePhysics how physical limits may soon end this phase of development, as foreshadowed by The Limits to Growth. go.nature.com/3voCJ0q

Technically true, but Earth’s economy is extremely far from physical limits. Energy is the foundation of the economy, but we’re using a very tiny amount of available energy, even if we only used PV.
