Here is the @Tesla Roadster’s battery and drive unit, which is one-third more powerful than the Model S Plaid’s, with half the mass.
Tesla: “The new high-voltage battery and drive unit technology used to drive Roadster enables our most powerful and compact rear-wheel drive unit yet. Together, they deliver 1 MW of pure power-that's one third more power than Model S Plaid-with half the mass. The result is paradigm-shifting acceleration with amazing cornering and precise stopping power.”

We will make sure that it’s legal — at a minimum could be used to leapfrog golf carts in the Villages.
vogel@ryanvogel· Oct 16, 2026@RonDeSantis Will this be street legal in Florida?

Friends often asked why I stayed at Tesla. I replied, “How can you look away from a company that brings sci-fi to reality and realizes what we see today isn’t even the coolest thing?”
Grateful to be part of the teams.

Ok that was beyond insane. Beyond plaid.
0-60 in 0.8 seconds (thanks to thrusters and suction for tire grip) and top speed of Mach 0.5
Oh, and it can fly.

That demo involved a non trivial chance of embarrassing failure! 🫡
I’m only going for the baseline model. At this point in my life, rocket bunny hops are out of my comfort zone.

ELON MUSK: “It's going to be pretty wild that you can have a rocket car. The car has attitude control thrusters and main thrusters in the rear, so it can basically fly like a rocket. It could do rolls. It could do crazy gymnastics. Whatever you want, really.
This is not necessarily a safety-optimized car, but it takes the fun meter to 11 out of 10.
This will be an actual car that’s on the roads. I’m not sure it’s necessarily legal in all jurisdictions.
The car can recharge its air tank, so it’s not like you need special propellant or anything like that. It literally is just going to pop itself up and be able to do these maneuvers whenever you’d like.”
