It’s easy for someone to spin up hundreds or thousands of bot accounts and just troll for attention.
Unfortunately, I think the only solution is limiting replies to verified users or those you follow.
Or just thoroughly ignore unverified craziness.

There are literally people on X right now blaming the California wildfires on either Trump, who is not even president yet, or on climate change.
These idiots refuse to blame the 3 people most responsible for these fires in Los Angeles.

The biggest factor, in my opinion, is that crazy environmental regulations prevent building fire breaks and clearing brush near houses.
That’s what allows massive fires to get going. Once they’re going, you’re just in damage control mode.
In this case, damage control also failed due to the reasons mentioned above.

Something that people may find helpful for stopping fires is packing wet sand/dirt (aka mud) on vulnerable surfaces if you can.
This is far more effective than just wetting a surface with water, which evaporates quickly.
