Important to bear in mind that production is as fast as the slowest part out of ~10,000 unique parts in a car

NASA's Inspector General says delays in spacesuit development are another factor making a 2024 astronaut Moon landing impossible.
With $420M spent and another $625M expected, suits won't be "ready for flight until April 2025 at the earliest."

There are 27 different companies supplying the components for NASA's next-generation spacesuits, IG notes:

This black and white Starship photo from Friday, which is evocative of both history and what is to come, sent a clear message to regulators: We are ready to usher in the future.

"The concept of the 911 doesn't allow for a pure electric car because we have the engine in the rear and if the weight of the battery were moved to the rear you couldn't drive the car. For this decade it's very clear to me that the 911 will be a car with an ICE"

1/ There are a few key moments that define our future. One is happening now in the Senate w/ the infrastructure bill. At the 11th hour @MarkWarner has proposed an amendment that would decide which foundational technologies are OK and which are not in crypto. This is disastrous.
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Aug 6, 2021
Agreed, this is not the time to pick technology winners or losers in cryptocurrency technology. There is no crisis that compels hasty legislation.

There’s a strange irony to the fact the fully stacked @SpaceX Starship/ Superheavy is as tall as Lady Liberty 🗽, her being an emblem of liberty in new lands for travelers & weary immigrants, Starship being just that for new planets etc @elonmusk 🚀

Higher structural margins overall are needed for reuse, plus:
Booster
- Grid fins for aero control
- Boostback & landing propellant tanks
- Protecting engines from entry loads
Ship
- Body flaps for aero control
- Deorbit & landing propellant tanks
- Heat shield
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Aug 6, 2021
There is a reason no fully reusable orbital rocket has been built – it’s an insanely hard problem.
Moreover, it must be rapidly & completely reusable (like an airplane). This is the only way to make life multiplanetary.
Efficiencies of scale is why Starship is so large.

I think what we'd appreciate, Elon, is another of your presentations on where you think Starship is right now and how you see things developing. There's an IAC congress in October. You've performed there before; what about another turn?
